Sherri Lugo, Certified Grief Recovery Specialist
Sherri Lugo is a California native. She first attended California State University Long Beach receiving a Bachelors of Science in Health Education. Sherri then pursued volunteer and work opportunities as a Special Olympics Coach and Special Education Para educator working with children and adults with emotional, physical and mental disabilities. These experiences lead her to attend California State University Los Angeles where she received a Teaching Credential in Special Education for the Visually Impaired with an additional certification in Autism.
The past five years Sherri has been a Teacher of the Visually Impaired and a Lead Teacher for a transition program for young adults with special needs. She also has been working beside her husband Eddie’s family, helping their nephew Joey who has Autism.
Sherri was brought to a Grief Recovery class over the death of her grandfather about 3 years ago which she thought she had recovered from. This led her to see how Grief has affected her in other personal relationships with family and friends. Sherri saw how the Grief Recovery process helped her to see the grief she was feeling and work through it which has led her now to help others. After attending two sessions in 2011 along with her husband, she decided to get certified in Grief Recovery in January 2012.
